About

Yours Truly!Hi! My name is Jon van Rooyen and I am a South African web geek specialising in the area of website planning and development for small to large scale websites. Having successfully rolled out websites on systems such as WordPress and Joomla, along with the planning of several custom content management systems for specialised projects, I am confident in my skills to acheive high quality web sites that provide a return on investment.

My career as a web developer started at The Blue Box in 2003 where I learn’t a lot of the skills needed to build a successful website as well as several search engine optimisation techniques. My career then led me down more of a project management path at Wandata Internet Solutions from 2005 where I was literally thrown in the deep end to run a web department comprising of 4 developers. After I felt I had aquired all that I needed to know from a project management level, I decided to return to a more developmental role at Temple Creative where I am currently employed. This is where I feel my career as a web developer has really started to take off with the success of projects like The Midlands Meander website (http://www.midlandsmeander.co.za) and the Msundusi Museum (http://www.voortrekkermuseum.co.za) along with many others.

I have a passion for web development and absolutely love keeping up with the rapidly moving trends in this industry to create better and more useful sites to both help customers to attain the relationship they desire with their customer base, as well as provide a rich and rewarding experience for the website visitor.

While this website is developed to be a representation of my portfolio, my other goal is provide interesting and easy to understand articles on the web development world as well as provide a platform to write about more of my personal interests.

I hope you enjoy your stay and I look forward to hearing your thoughts in the comments.
